I am sure glad my kids are over the age of eight. With the economy in the shape that it is in and the expense of car seats I would hate to go through that again. Consumers are trying to down size to save on gas and buy smaller cars. How are they suppose to fit all the car seats in their car now. Everyone with three or more children are going to have to go back to the mini vans or blazers to fit everything in. Either that or they will be leaving half of the family at home. That is going to be a real boost to the struggling economy. Before I would leave half of my family home, I would stay home. I can just imagine how those eight year olds feel to be put back in a car seat again. I do not honestly think that my kids at age eight could have even fit in a car seat or booster seat. They were not quite four foot nine but they were close. What about these little kids that are big for their age but are under eight years old, will their parents get a ticket if they are not in car seats? I am all for the safety issue, but I think this is taking it a bit too far.

I agree with you, this is going a little bit too far! I do not think these kids should be in car seats, what about seat belts? Do not they work? Before we talk about the expenses, will these kids agree to be in car seats again? I really doubt it! And as you mentioned people now have to buy mini vans rather than a small car and with the gas prices things will get really hard on these people. Not only gas prices are high but those car seats are not cheap either. So what would a low income parent do in this situation? Stay at home?
