I was just starting to feel safe again about products made in China until I read this headline about more people getting sick from another Chinese import. Several incidents have come up within the past year with contaminated pet food and lead laced toys. Now, I have to add frozen dumplings to the list of things that I don’t want from China. I’m not a cook, but I don’t think insecticides normally go into most dumpling recipes, especially when they cause children to go into comas, but somehow they made it into the batch this time. I understand that accidents are likely to happen with food contamination regardless of which country the product comes from, but why does it seem like China is the chief exporter of potentially deadly products? I can’t really remember many recent contaminated products from other countries that match the frequency at which China creates them. I was glad to see that the Chinese government did launch a campaign last August to look into the contaminations and try to reassure the quality of their products. However, it isn’t necessarily looking like a successful campaign, even though officials deemed it so. Hopefully quality control kicks in and I can look forward to the day when no one worries about products from China.

This article is kind of scary i really think that we should boycott things made from china but we really cant do that because we dont have the resources (thanx to president bush) to make our own stuff. China is almost all communist country were theres alot of poverty and when theres poverty the factories have to make cut backs and one of their cut backs happens to be saftey now I can only addess that question I cant really address the question on why there havent been any saftey issues with other countries, thank god hasent though. So many jobs are being cut thanx to the governements intent to get rich and to make the rest of us poor (sounds awfully like communism or facism) that even if we want to get away from imports we cant, I dont even think we would function as a society.
