The Cadillac 16

Living in America, we don’t always get the chance to see or even learn about the newest and fastest European car. But have no fear car lovers of America, the second best, the second fastest, and the second on a very short list of luxury cars, has almost arrived. Cadillac has a new concept car that was recently unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2003. (Side note: not many people know about this and I didn’t know when exactly this car was introduced as a concept car from GM.)

The Cadillac engine, more formally known as the “sixteen”, is of 13.6 liters of displacement, and delivers an outstanding 1000 horsepower with its 16 cylinders. And surprise, the car is actually more compact as most imagine also being a GM car; it was of course built to the highest technological standards. Probably the biggest surprise of all is that it generates the 1000 horses without any kind of super or turbochargers assistance. According to GM, the “sixteen” will have the fuel economy equivalent to that of a V-12 or even a V-8.

However despite it s outstanding stats, the Cadillac is only the second best engine wise in the world of luxury cars. There is a rival concept that develops a tiny 1001 horsepower! Wow they out did GM by one, nice.
