28 Inch Tall Woman Sets Birthing Record

Stacey Herald, a 33 year old woman from northern Kentucky, gave birth five weeks ago to an 18 inch daughter. That's INSANE!!! Guiness is currently checking if this birth breaks the current record for smallest woman ever to give birth to a child - but Stacey believes the record is hers.

Stacey suffers from a condition known as osteogenesis imperfecta - a condition which causes errors in bone development. This genetic disorder causes bones to be uncharacteristically weak and brittle, which in turn can affect the overall height of those diagnosed. Though Makaia - Stacey's five week old child - is expected to grow to normal height.

Stacey and her husband Wil (who stands at 5'9") are overjoyed to have their SECOND child! Their first child - Katira - is 16 months old. Doctors told Stacey that she would not be able to ever conceive, as the child growing inside her would smother her lungs and heart, resulting in the death of both mother and child. However, Stacey decided to follow through with it despite being encouraged to have an abortion.

Both children, as it turned out, grew out instead of up, resulting in Stacey having a comically large and protruding belly. According to her, she looked like a snail. Both children were removed via Cesarean section.

Oh my Gosh! The woman is really gifted! This is really amazing, and she definitely has a strong heart. The doctors did not expect her to actually be able to go through this; however, she went with it anyways. And I got to give her credit for that. I just really hope her two children grow up normal as it is expected. I am really glad that she did not go with abortion! I personally against that, and I think is wrong. I wish her the best and of course to her family as well, because raising two children in that situation is not easy at all!

That just goes to show you that doctors do not always know what they are talking about.
If it were me though I do not think I would have attempted it once let alone twice. With all the kids in the world today that are looking for a loving home (which I am sure this one is if she is putting her life at risk like this) today I probably would have looked into adoption. I give her credit for going through with it. I know how miserable it is to be pregnant at five foot four inches, I can only imagine. She had to feel like she was falling over at all times. I am glad everything went alright for her and she has a healthy baby.

This is incrediable for such a small woman to give birth to a full grown baby period (or i guess in this case being able to have a child in general), and let alone an 18 inch one at that. it was also crazy to find that she defied what doctors told her and decided to have children. the amazing things that science can tell us, yet sometimes things just don't work out the way predicted. this woman has been blessed, to be able to give birth to two children even in her condition and when science told her it wasn't a wise choice.
